Navigate the Stars for Down to Earth Directions
Astrology is a universal language that works for everyone. I love the way it's ageless wisdom is so relevant, so contemporary, so 21st century.

A natal chart is like a roadmap signposting your birth potential - the stuff you are and how to use that more fully in your everyday life. Having your horoscope read is a great way to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your relationships, your family dynamics, your work or career prospects and expectations.

If you're a parent you might like to have your baby or child's chart looked at. This can help to more objectively identify the difference and similarities you share with your child within the family network.

People consult Astrology when they're looking to find their place in the bigger picture.

STARS FOR 2010 By Fern Mercier

A new“May you live in interesting times” was an old curse. 2010 promises us interesting times – although the joy of being alive in such an exciting period of history is definitely not a curse. It is however another intense roller coaster of a year for us all on Planet Earth. A bumpy ride that will bequeath far-reaching changes in its wake, as it gatecrashes us into the future.
2010 promises to be a volatile mix of radicalism and conservatism fighting for supremacy. Imagine the gods battling it out in a boxing ring. Some players have allies and all have enemies. It will feel like a fight for survival on intensely personal as well as social and political levels.

Pluto in Capricorn packs a punch, representing big business, banks, governments, corporations and organized crime - all trying to command everything in order to profit from it. On a macro level, Pluto represents the hoarding of power in the hands of the few; on a micro level, the need to control our small patch of personal power.
In another corner of the ring we have Uranus, lining up against the forces of tradition. From the end of May until mid-August, Uranus enters Aries, the sign of the individualist and squares off with Pluto. Uranus militantly declares a flat-out ‘No’ to anything that tries to limit or control its desire for innovative ideas and the freedom to share them.
Pluto is thunder and Uranus lightning – it’s a pandemic structure-buster that leaves us reeling. Watch this incompatible pair slug it out in issues such as local and national politics, taxes, national security.
Bolshy Uranus welcomes the new and unknown, urging us to get rid of anything that has become too restrictive or controlling.

It’s joined by its mate Jupiter - boxing gloves on too - in Aries through June till September. Jupiter’s expansionary characteristics merge well with freedom, future -loving Uranus. Jupiter and Uranus are joined at the hip, fighting for human rights. We can expect progressively-minded groups with new political thinking and alternative lifestyles to blossom – all with a bias against established social structures. There will be scientific and technological breakthroughs that destroy old business models that we’ve become accustomed to for centuries.

If this sounds familiar, well yes, we all experienced similar transits in the 1960’s when Uranus and Pluto were conjoined in Virgo, and Jupiter and Uranus met in Libra. That was a decade of rampant, fundamental breakthroughs, whose implications still today have not been fully absorbed collectively. We landed on the Moon, established the necessity of environmental and ecological health for our planet, we fought for human rights in particular those of women, indigenous peoples and minorities. The rise and rise of the computer started in the ‘60s with the birth of the microchip. The consequences of that time return now, demanding new answers and innovative solutions. What extraordinary technologies will radically change the substance of our lives during 2010!

Flower Power and spiritual awakening erupted during the 1960’s into a surprised world. World peace and Inner peace were mantras of the time. 2010 will likewise birth another tidal wave of consciousness blossoming into social, cultural and political movements that rock the world. People power erupts again demanding that feminine values, sustainable environmental practices, cultural and spiritual diversity be more equitably integrated into our tired old consumer-driven world. Those marching orders from our past - “Make Love, not War” and “Ban the Bomb!” get recycled into 2010.

But while we dream of harmony, Saturn and even Mars join up to make war. The gods stubbornly refuse peaceful or easy change in 2010.
Saturn moves between Virgo and Libra, both signs that have a desire for equality, wholeness and reciprocity at their core. Saturn in Virgo has been bringing health, work and environmental concerns to the fore, whilst its transit through Libra demands justice in personal and social relationships.
Saturn in Virgo has been in an ongoing (since 2008) opposition with Uranus in Pisces and yes, the last time these two planets were in such a violent tug of war was 1965 -67… that decade again! Saturn backs the traditions of the Establishment. Uranus stands behind the great Liberation Movements when youth, freedom and independent thinking battled against the old guard.

During June, July and August we will experience the opposition of the two Titans in the cardinal signs of Aries and Libra, at the same time as they both square Pluto. Expect a period characterized by dramatic extremes and natural disasters, ranging from earthquakes, fire, floods, tsunamis and hurricanes. These difficult transits threaten great economic uncertainty, unexpected loss of leadership, military coups, acts of warfare or dictatorial authorities asserting an iron fist of social and political control.

ARIES 21 March – 19 April

Wake-up calls galore! Although the year gets off to a slow start, best not to push your own interests too fast until your birthday. Work through any residual matters at work and despite frustrations, aim not to get into scraps over who’s the boss. Authorities need careful handling. If you’re aiming high, ensure you have groundwork and details covered before making a bid for control. By June you will be more than willing to take risks in the way you project yourself out into the world. Educational or political activities further your goals and usher in a new phase of excitement and possible travel. Your freedom of expression may well conflict with the needs of a partner. Relationships are a testing ground and need attention and perseverance to last the distance.

TAURUS 20 April – 20 May

Friendships play a big role in your personal growth this year. Connecting socially with others in group or community networks will be rewarding and stimulating. Contacts with different cultures may change your thinking fundamentally as you learn more about the world around you. Don’t play the ostrich in the workplace if there are issues over rights vs. obligations. Tackle any unpleasant vibes for appeasement won’t work in the long term, and only makes you feel bad about yourself. There’s a lot going on at home in the first part of the year, whether it’s a spot of domestic DIY or sorting out family matters. September through December move you into some very deep places within close relationships. Take the time to get to the bottom of problems and communicate honestly.

GEMINI 21 May - 21 June

Use the beginning of this year to undergo a thorough re-evaluation of what you hold in common with those close to you. If your resources are too tightly controlled by others, it is essential you make some changes slowly but surely. Your opportunities for movement or communication may be curtailed at the start of 2010. Simplify your home life, exercise fiscal intelligence and make cut- backs in the budget. It’s called re-inventing yourself and will lead to major breakthroughs in your future goal-setting. New directions clarify meaning and purpose in your life. If children or young people become heavy burdens, develop healthy boundaries for yourself and practice tough love. New friends mid-year open up exciting horizons and support you to follow your heart.

CANCER 21 June - 21 July

You face a classic dilemma this year that creates terrific tension within you that manifests in all your close relationships. You have a strong desire to spread your wings especially in your career, and how you project yourself into the public arena. But this conflicts with the necessity of shouldering family responsibilities or domestic duties. Your willingness to be all things to all people rebounds now as you face what it means to become the director in your own life. Get used to upsetting the applecart – you may even begin to enjoy the drama. Though there’s no need to go overboard when throwing out old baggage in your partnership zone. You are liable to extreme measures which will ultimately conflict with your needs for security.

LEO 23 July - 22 August

A makeover year, so change your ways of thinking about yourself, your beliefs and your job. Clean up your act in issues round health and wealth. Do not resist changes to your exercise and nutrition regimes, and be proactive in deepening your commitment to physical well-being. Workplace politics need mindfulness and good communication especially round what is fair. You may not always see the other side objectively, so get input. Seek mediation or facilitation if talking doesn’t help. During the first half of the year the chase will be more attractive than the outcome, so keep your libido and ambition in check until you are clear the goal is truly worth the effort. Exotic travel however, is a temptation you can’t resist!

VIRGO 23 August - 22 September

Relationships are key to your well-being, at home, work and play. Hard work they might be, but worth it they are. Two heads are better than one and good long-term planning in tandem will pay great dividends down the track. Get to grips with self-esteem issues you have round prosperity or lack of it. Raise your expectations and lower your spendthrift habits. The first half of the year is a time of preparation, backstage planning and time out while you tune in. Then unleash your newfound confidence and begin the beguine in earnest. You have what it takes to deliver the goods in profoundly creative ways. Children can transform your life if you let them. Make love, make babies, or make art – or do all three.

LIBRA 23 September - 23 October

It won’t be an easy year, yet it can be a liberating one. Friendships might be a source of conflict for you. If someone you used to respect pulls from a totally different direction than you, let go of your attachment. Cull your social obligations and revamp your social networks to better suit your purse and your identity. Be realistic about group pressure and don’t let anyone scapegoat you unfairly. Refuse to cave into pressure or emotional manipulation. Be brave and take a stand when necessary. Your home sector is due for a shakeup whether you like it or not. Unclutter, reconfigure, and prepare yourself for transformation from the bottom up. A mid-year love-quake can knock your socks off.

SCORPIO 24 October - 21 November

The more avant-garde you are in the work-place, the more you stay ahead of the pack. Watch your back as you’re prone to blind-spots in your defense-systems. If other people get under your skin, put effort into understanding what buttons within you they’re pushing. For your own peace of mind, work at being proactive rather than re-active. Your career flies high throughout most of the year but don’t get cocky or over-confident as tall poppies are liable to be mowed down. Push ahead strategically and use your five minutes of fame wisely. Be very careful with secrets and distrust rumours until you have absolutely ALL the details. You’re prone to taking risks in love and romance mid-year. A fertile time with flashes of genius for the creative artist.

SAGITTARIUS 22 November - 21 December

You dither between being a team-player and an ardent individualist. It is impossible to know which side of you needs to come out in any given situation until you’re in it. Shooting the arrows of truth hither and thither doesn’t endear you to authority figures or the corporate world, and yet worldly success is in your sights if you want it. Better get clear about your values and that famous integrity/honesty you prize yourself on. Think about which tribe you belong with. You create new and influential networks if you focus on where you belong spiritually. Overseas travel is possible even desirable but it’s not straightforward until after March. Love has surprises in store– out-of-the-blue flings; thrilling but not necessarily reliable encounters of the close kind.

CAPRICORN 22 December - 19January

Call up your reserves of fortitude, confidence and self-determination so you can become the brightest and the best. Whatever your field of expertise or wisdom, you will be visible in your community for all to see. Take advantage of career or vocational opportunities to accept leadership in the professional arena. This will develop abilities and resources you didn’t know you had. It’s time to replace feelings of inadequacy and fear with self-empowerment and self-knowledge. Responsibility weighs heavily – it’s not a year for slacking. But opportunities leap in through the windows of study, sharing your ideas via the internet, travel, marketing or publishing. Keep clear boundaries in your income or financial sector especially when dealing with joint resources or monies.

AQUARIUS 20 January - 18 February

Listen to your intuition in matters of physical health. The more intently you heed your body’s needs, the more accurate you will be in deciphering how to attend to those needs. Psychological and spiritual healing will become part of your journey. Someone can play a role in your life that alters your lifestyle and helps heal past wounds. You must draw upon your inner resources as never before and allow deep emotions feed your well-being. Clever business ideas can jive up your income sector and with a bit of old-fashioned luck you may expect investments to flourish. Fortune will be onside with you in early June and September, when feeling optimistic and prosperous, you act on hunches that pay off. Beware of over-idealising mates, but do trust in divine friendship.

PISCES 19 February - 20March

Blessings may arrive in disguise, but arrive they will. Your social life improves, you feel fantastic and you can begin to free yourself of any oppressive elements that have held you back from expressing your own unique and beautiful self. Take romantic risks and pleasure in being over-the-top. Trust whomever comes into your life - especially if they are different from you - to be agents of change and growth. Stretch and grow in whatever area feels right to you. From June to September be bold in money matters. Utilize your resources and talents in ways that force a change in stale routines. Radical innovations point the way to moving your career into the future. Allow plenty of time to integrate them into a regular schedule during the year.
