STARS FOR
2010 By Fern Mercier Pluto in Capricorn packs a punch, representing big business, banks, governments,
corporations and organized crime - all trying to command everything in
order to profit from it. On a macro level, Pluto represents the hoarding
of power in the hands of the few; on a micro level, the need to control
our small patch of personal power. It’s joined by its mate Jupiter - boxing gloves on too - in Aries through June till September. Jupiter’s expansionary characteristics merge well with freedom, future -loving Uranus. Jupiter and Uranus are joined at the hip, fighting for human rights. We can expect progressively-minded groups with new political thinking and alternative lifestyles to blossom – all with a bias against established social structures. There will be scientific and technological breakthroughs that destroy old business models that we’ve become accustomed to for centuries. If this sounds familiar, well yes, we all experienced similar transits in the 1960’s when Uranus and Pluto were conjoined in Virgo, and Jupiter and Uranus met in Libra. That was a decade of rampant, fundamental breakthroughs, whose implications still today have not been fully absorbed collectively. We landed on the Moon, established the necessity of environmental and ecological health for our planet, we fought for human rights in particular those of women, indigenous peoples and minorities. The rise and rise of the computer started in the ‘60s with the birth of the microchip. The consequences of that time return now, demanding new answers and innovative solutions. What extraordinary technologies will radically change the substance of our lives during 2010! Flower Power and spiritual awakening erupted during the 1960’s into a surprised world. World peace and Inner peace were mantras of the time. 2010 will likewise birth another tidal wave of consciousness blossoming into social, cultural and political movements that rock the world. People power erupts again demanding that feminine values, sustainable environmental practices, cultural and spiritual diversity be more equitably integrated into our tired old consumer-driven world. Those marching orders from our past - “Make Love, not War” and “Ban the Bomb!” get recycled into 2010. But while we dream of harmony, Saturn and even Mars join up to make war.
The gods stubbornly refuse peaceful or easy change in 2010. During June, July and August we will experience the opposition of the two Titans in the cardinal signs of Aries and Libra, at the same time as they both square Pluto. Expect a period characterized by dramatic extremes and natural disasters, ranging from earthquakes, fire, floods, tsunamis and hurricanes. These difficult transits threaten great economic uncertainty, unexpected loss of leadership, military coups, acts of warfare or dictatorial authorities asserting an iron fist of social and political control. CANCER
21 June - 21 July You face a classic dilemma this year that creates terrific tension within you that manifests in all your close relationships. You have a strong desire to spread your wings especially in your career, and how you project yourself into the public arena. But this conflicts with the necessity of shouldering family responsibilities or domestic duties. Your willingness to be all things to all people rebounds now as you face what it means to become the director in your own life. Get used to upsetting the applecart – you may even begin to enjoy the drama. Though there’s no need to go overboard when throwing out old baggage in your partnership zone. You are liable to extreme measures which will ultimately conflict with your needs for security. |
